 Where Did You Come From

The National Geographic Society and IBM have teamed up to figure out how people got to where they are. Not your normal genealogical research project  to find out who your great great great grandfather was but it takes you back to the origin of man.

The concept is that all human originated somewhere in NE Africa and migrated as clan (a Halpogroup) from that point. Some never left Africa and others  moved North into the Middle East and then these split up and some went East (Asia) and other to the West (Europe and the Mediterranean). By taking DNA samples of 60,000  people, they have been able to determine who is part of which sub clan and then which clans they were derived from. There are markers (signposts) in the DNA that permit this trail to be retraced.

You can submit your DNA to the project and find out how your ancestors came to be in the location that immigrated to the country that you now live in. Follow the link below to see how you can apply for a kit that will help you to collect your own DNA to be submitted to the project. Be advised that it cost $99.99 but it may well be worth it to know how your family came to be where you live.
