Unfortunately most
brutal crimes are perpetrated against women and children. The following
tips may help you in a situation regarding danger to your life. This
does not mean that we are not concerned about your pocessions but that
matter is dicussed elsewhere in our issues. See Safety
for the range of subjects covered.
Abduction
Precautions for Women

. Women
are perceived to be weaker and therefore easy targets. Just as in the
animal kingdom, the weak are singled out. Give
an appearance
of strength and confidence, all the while being aware of your
surroundings.

If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,
DO
NOT HAND IT TO HIM
. Toss it away from you....chances are he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN
LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, you must try and
escape or draw attention to the vehicle. You want to do this as soon as
you can, because if you are in a trunk there is not much hope for
compassion from your captor, and if he can get you out of a metropolitan
area then help will be in short supply.
Most
cars now have a remote that allows them to be opened from the drivers
seat. Commonly this is a cable connected to a lever and is sometime
concealed under a flimsy panel (look inside a trunk to familiarize yourself). Rip off the panel and feel for this lever/cable (if your
hands are free) pull it and the trunk should pop free.
City
traffic should allow you plenty of opportunity to jump out once the
trunk is opened, but in more rural areas you will need to crack the
trunk open and attempt to notify the driver of any vehicles that may be
behind you. Do not lift the trunk lid more than necessary, or your
abductor may notice it.
If
your hands are bound or you are unable to open the trunk, you may
be able to kick out the back tail
lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The
driver won't see you, but everybody else will.
You
may be able to twist a taillight bulb assembly out of the back of the
taillight, and use this for light. You
can also use the taillight bulb to signal SOS by altering the amount of
time you hold the bulb back in it's socket. The Morse code for SOS is 3
short -3 long - 3 short, but if you can't remember this then any erratic
behavior of the lights may get some attention. If nothing else you can
rip the wires out of the taillights and hope the vehicle is
stopped by the police for taillight failure.
In
the event that you do not escape, be sure to leave some trace of you
behind, in case the perpetrator comes under suspicion and the vehicle is
searched. Scratch yourself (don't make the scratch obvious to your captor) and
rub small inconspicuous amounts of blood in several places or leave some
of your hair (roots must be on the hair). This may help to lead the
police to you or at least help to prevent this from happening to others.
4.Do
not get into your car and just sit (making entries into a checkbook, or making a list,
etc.)
The
predator may be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for
him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell
you where to go.
AS
SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.
5.
A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking
garage:
A.)
Be
aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor,
and in the back seat.
B.)
If you are parked next to a van, enter your car by way of a door on the
side away from the van. Many serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into
their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.)
Look
at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the
passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car,
you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a
guard/policeman to walk you to your car.
IT
IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead

When alone always
take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places
to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

If the predator has a gun and and is threatening you and you are not in his
grip,
ALWAYS
RUN!
The chance of you being hit is only 4 % of the time; and even
then, it most likely
WILL
NOT
be a vital organ.
RUN!
8.
Women tend to be sympathetic:
STOP
IT. It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a
good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of
unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked
" for help " into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when
he abducted his next victim.
A recent ploy to trap women involves a recording of a crying
baby being played outside of a woman's home in an effort to coax her to
open the door. Don't fall for this, just call the 911 and tell them what
is going on and have them send a patrol car.
